This week the Stargaze Rating is excellent and will be wonderful for deep sky observers. The Moon will be New on Friday, September 18th. This means the Moon will rise early morning during the first part of the week and not at all on Friday.  Now all we need is clear skies.
The Moongaze Rating for the week will be good for those who like to get up early in the morning and enjoy the crescent moon. You will be able to observe the terminator move across the western half of the Moon providing wonderful relief for the features along that surface.
With the Moon waxing from First Quarter to Full on Friday, the stargazing will be poor, especially in the early evening. If you are an early riser, you will have pretty good skies to look at, provided the skies are not filled with big, thick, heavy rain clouds. The Stargaze Rating for the week is poor to fair.
The Moongaze Rating is good because this will be a good week to watch the terminator cross the western quadrant of the Moon, revealing wonderful lunar features.
With the Moon waxing from a late crescent (6-day moon) to nearly Full (12-day moon), the early evening will be drenched with light from the Moon.  After moonset the skies will again be suited for deep sky observing but this will not happen until the late night hours. The Stargaze Rating for the week is fair (in the early evening) to good (in the early morning).
The Moongaze Rating is good as the terminator will be passing from the mid-eastern surface of the Moon across to the western limb.
With the Moon waning from gibbous (20-day Moon) to a thin crescent phase (27-day Moon) by the week’s end, the Stargaze Rating for the week is excellent. This is because the Moon will not only be less bright each day but it will also rise in the east well after midnight making this next week a great week for early evening stargazing.
If you are a Moongazer, you will need to view it in the early morning hours. This is a good time for you to view the features across the midsection and western quadrant of the Moon as the terminator passes over them. The low angle of the sunlight gives great relief which makes the features along the terminator pop out into view. The Moongaze Rating for the week is good.
With the Moon waning from Third Quarter on Sunday (17th) toward New, the Stargaze Rating for the week is excellent.
If you are a Moongazer you will need to view the Moon in the early morning. This is a good time for you to view the features on the eastern limb of the Moon (right side) as the terminator passes over this region. The Moongaze Rating is good.
With the Moon waning from Third Quarter toward New, the Stargaze Rating for the week is excellent. If you are a Moongazer, you will need to view the Moon in the early morning. This is a good time for you to view the features on the eastern limb of the Moon (right side) as the terminator passes over this region. The Moongazer Rating is very good.
The Moon is waxing from First Quarter to Full on Saturday, May 9th. The Stargaze Rating is fair to poor for the week. The Moongaze Rating is good because this will be a good week to watch the terminator cross the western quadrant of the Moon, revealing wonderful lunar features.
As the Moon wanes from nearly Full to Last Quarter it will be rising in the east later each evening. This will afford stargazers the chance to go out and observe in the early evening, particularly by the end of the week. The Stargaze Rating is fair to good.
This will also be a good week for Moon enthusiasts because the terminator (shadow’s edge) will be well positioned for the relief of surface features to stand out.
Stargazing will not be very favorable this week with the Moon waxing from First Quarter to Full by Thursday the 9th. The Stargaze Rating for the week is fair to poor. The Moongaze Rating is good with the terminator crossing over the western portion of the Moon.
The Moon will be waxing from a shallow crescent at the first of the week to Gibbous by the end of the week. Because it will set early in the evening at the first of the week, the Stargaze Rating for the first couple days in the week are good. By mid week the moon will be very prominent in the sky, making it difficult to do much deep sky observing except in the early morning.
The Moongaze Rating is very good for the early evening and night as the terminator crosses from the eastern limb to the mid-western meridian.
